There are tons of ads for super-cheap websites, and at the end of the day that what we think they are. Many of these sites are templates that can be used by anyone who pays for them. This means that another company could have the same template that you have. All of our sites are custom and tailored to your specific needs. Another problem with “template farms” is that you will either be limited on how you display content on the pages, or you’ll have to hire someone to adjust the template to display the content in the way that you want it. In the end, most, if not all, of the money that you have saved by purchasing the template will be spent in your time trying to figure out how to use the template and in additional development costs to customize the template.
Time is also a misleading sales tool with these sites. Many say that they will have your site up in 24-ish hours, but that doesn’t mean that your site will have content in that amount of time. Part of our process is to help you gather the right content to reach the right people. Not only does this take time, but it also takes experience that a template doesn’t have.
Quality, in a technical sense, is a huge difference between us and many ultra-low-cost companies. Our design team automatically thinks about certain aspects of the site that templates and low cost providers don’t. These include but aren’t limited to:
1. Ease of scalability – As your business grows, can your site grow too? Can this growth take place relatively easily, or will you need to redesign the entire site?
2. Search Engine Optimization – Can search engines crawl the site easily and effectively? Are there technologies (like Flash) that will hamper this ability and should be used sparingly?
3. Design changes, enhancements, and maintenance – If you want to change something on the site, is it easy to update and maintain?
Another quality that we take great pride in is our stewardship and advocacy. We feel that we are advocates for our clients and work as if your company was our company. This allows us to use unique development and production strategies to create sites that may still be “under development” but appear to visitors as if they are fully complete. Most bargain-basement website offers are only concerned about making a sale, not about what you’ll do after the sale. This is unacceptable to us.
